Terms of Service
The deal, in writing
These terms cover the hosted NOM service at nommeal.com and nom.nommeal.com, operated by Armory Works Technology, LLC (“Armory Works,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you run your own NOM instance from the open-source code, these terms don't apply to it — your operator's terms do.
Last updated: August 14, 2026.
Not medical or dietary advice
NOM does nutritional arithmetic; it does not practice medicine. Nutrition figures, diet-compatibility checks, restriction filters, and shuffle suggestions are informational tools, not medical, dietary, or allergy advice, and they depend on recipe and ingredient data that can be incomplete or wrong. If you or anyone in your household has a food allergy, intolerance, or medical dietary requirement, always verify ingredients yourself — read the actual label, ask the actual restaurant, consult the actual clinician. Never rely on NOM as the last line of defense for a health-critical decision.
Your account
You need an account to use most of the app. Keep your credentials to yourself, tell us if you think your account is compromised, and be at least 13 (or the digital-consent age where you live — with a parent or guardian's consent if you're a minor). You're responsible for what happens under your account, including what invited household members do with shared plans, pantries, and lists.
Your content
Recipes you write, plans you build, notes, photos, and ratings are yours. You give us the license we need to store, process, and display that content to run the service for you and your household — nothing more. If you mark a recipe public, you're granting other users of this instance the right to view and cook from it, and us the right to show it on public surfaces like the recipe browser. Don't post content you don't have the right to share; recipes' ingredient lists and methods are generally not protected, but copied prose and photos can be.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, or post content that's unlawful, hateful, or harassing;
- probe, overload, scrape, or disrupt the service, or access other users' private data;
- misrepresent who you are or impersonate someone else;
- use the service to spam, or resell it without our written agreement;
- upload malware or content designed to harm other users or the service.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.
The service, as it is
NOM is a small, actively developed product. Features change, and the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do back up hosted data, but you should export anything you can't afford to lose — the app's export tools exist for exactly that.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Armory Works and its members, officers, and contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost data, lost profits, personal injury, or health outcomes connected to food choices — arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of $50 or what you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow parts of this limitation, so parts may not apply to you.
Indemnification
If your content or your use of the service gets us sued, you'll defend and indemnify us against the resulting claims, costs, and reasonable attorneys' fees.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and we'll give reasonable notice if we ever wind the hosted service down — with an export window, because the code is open source and your data should be portable.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll post the new version here and update the date above; material changes get an in-app or email notice. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law & contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions, disputes, takedown notices: use the contact form — a human reads every message.
